I'm installing a set of oem motorcraft double platinum plugs
According to the 1999 ford ranger owner guide
For the 4.0 liter v6 engine ( the spark plugs are gapped at.052 to.056 inch ) * confirm with the vehicle emissions control. Larger gap will give better cold starts and low rpm performance Smaller gap will have harder cold starts and better high rpm performance.
Spark plug gap chart by vehicle with exact specs, torque values, and plug types for 80+ makes and models If everything checks out, gap the plugs to the plug makers recommendation The plug is designed with a gap setting that keeps the ground electrode perpendicular to the tip. The recommended spark plug gap for a 1999 ford ranger 4.0l engine is 0.044 inches (1.1 mm)
So i bought some platinum plugs for my truck and i was going to buy a gapping tool, but the guy at the parts store, lordco, said you don't need to gap these plugs, they are already set to spec.
